WINTER RESIDENT. Just as people change their movement patterns in winter, so too do deer. The animals that roam throughout the woods in the summer have now entered their winter deer yards, areas where they gather to enjoy mutual protection from predators. Although many people continue to feed deer, wildlife biologists discourage the practice, saying it’s not good for wildlife populations in the long run.
