The Muskokan
Emergency staff appreciated
Sep 13, 2007
Shortly after midnight, on July 24, while visiting with friends at a cottage on Paint Lake near Dorset, I suffered a heart attack. When our host called 911, the dispatchers knew exactly where we were.

Within a few short minutes, several members of the Dorset Volunteer Fire Department were on the scene, administering first aid and recording my vital signs.

Several minutes later, an ambulance operated by Muskoka EMS arrived. Oxygen was applied, an intravenous line was inserted and nitro was administered to ease my discomfort.

I was then transported to Huntsville District Memorial Hospital, where I was met and treated by Doctors Jindal and MacDonald in the emergency ward.

Over the next two days, I was diagnosed and treated by those two doctors, ably assisted by Dr. Johnstone, before I was transferred to Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga.

I would like to publicly thank each and every firefighter, EMS worker, along with the nurses and doctors named above for their work and care during this life-threatening crisis.

The citizens who live in this area, along with the thousands of cottagers who vacation in the Huntsville/Lake of Bays region should be comforted to know that such professional and efficient emergency workers are ready to care for them whenever the need arises.
